10 points to know about our dreams: Analysis, dream interpretation, meaning of dreams/dream?

Do Blind People Dream?
Who become blind after birth can see images in their dreams. People who are born blind do not see any images, but have dreams equally vivid involving their other senses of sound, smell, touch and emotion. It is hard for a seeing person to imagine, but the body need for sleep is so strong that it is able to handle virtually all physical situations to make it happen.
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/
Why we Forget 90% of our Dreams?

Within 5 minutes of waking, half of your dream if forgotten. Within 10, 90% is gone. The famous poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, woke one morning having had a fantastic dream (likely opium induced) -

he put pen to paper and began to describe his vision in a dream in what has become one of English most famous poems: Kubla Khan. Part way through (54 lines in fact) he was interrupted by a Person from Porlock. Coleridge returned to his poem but could not remember the rest of his dream. The poem was never completed.
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
Curiously, Robert Louis Stevenson came up with the story of Doctor Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde whilst he was dreaming.
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/

Does Everybody Dreams?

Every human being dreams (except in cases of extreme psychological disorder) but men and women have different dreams and different physical reactions. Men tend to dream more about other men, while women tend to dream equally about men and women. In addition, both men and women experience sexually related physical reactions to their dreams regardless of whether the dream is sexual in nature; males experience erections and females experience increased vaginal blood flow.

Dreams Prevent Psychosis?

In a recent sleep study, students who were awakened at the beginning of each dream, but still allowed their 8 hours of sleep, all experienced difficulty in concentration, irritability, hallucinations, and signs of psychosis after only 3 days. When finally allowed their REM sleep the student brains made up for lost time by greatly increasing the percentage of sleep spent in the REM stage.

We Only Dream of What We Know

Our dreams are frequently full of strangers who play out certain parts - did you know that your mind is not inventing those faces - they are real faces of real people that you have seen during your life but may not know or remember? The evil killer in your latest dream may be the guy who pumped petrol in to your Dad car when you were just a little kid. We have all seen hundreds of thousands of faces through our lives, so we have an endless supply of characters for our brain to utilize during our dreams.
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/
Are dreams colorful or black and white?

A full 12% of sighted people dream exclusively in black and white. The remaining number dream in full color. People also tend to have common themes in dreams, which are situations relating to school, being chased, running slowly/in place, sexual experiences, falling, arriving too late, a person now alive being dead, teeth falling out, flying, failing an examination, or a car accident. It is unknown whether the impact of a dream relating to violence or death is more emotionally charged for a person who dreams in color than one who dreams in black and white.

Dreams are not about what they are about: Dream Symbols
If you dream about some particular subject it is not often that the dream is about that. Dreams speak in a deeply symbolic language. The unconscious mind tries to compare your dream to something else, which is similar. Its like writing a poem and saying that a group of ants were like machines that never stop. But you would never compare something to itself, for example: That beautiful sunset was like a beautiful sunset. So whatever symbol your dream picks on it is most unlikely to be a symbol for itself.
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/

Smokers have more vivid Dreams
People who have smoked cigarettes for a long time who stop, have reported much more vivid dreams than they would normally experience. Additionally, according to the Journal of Abnormal Psychology: “Among 293 smokers abstinent for between 1 and 4 weeks, 33% reported having at least 1 dream about smoking. In most dreams, subjects caught themselves smoking and felt strong negative emotions, such as panic and guilt. Dreams about smoking were the result of tobacco withdrawal, as 97% of subjects did not have them while smoking, and their occurrence was significantly related to the duration of abstinence. They were rated as more vivid than the usual dreams and were as common as most major tobacco withdrawal symptoms.

What we See and Hear in Dreams: Dream Incorporation
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/
This is called Dream Incorporation and it is the experience that most of us have had where a sound from reality is heard in our dream and incorporated in some way. A similar (though less external) example would be when you are physically thirsty and your mind incorporates that feeling in to your dream. My own experience of this includes repeatedly drinking a large glass of water in the dream which satisfies me, only to find the thirst returning shortly after - this thirst drink thirst loop often recurs until I wake up and have a real drink. The famous painting above (Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening) by Salvador Dali, depicts this concept.

Are we paralyzed while sleeping?
Believe it or not, your body is virtually paralyzed during your sleep - most likely to prevent your body from acting out aspects of your dreams. According to the Wikipedia article on dreaming, Glands begin to secrete a hormone that helps induce sleep and neurons send signals to the spinal cord which cause the body to relax and later become essentially paralyzed.

Mothers Day text sms messages, quotes, Poems, sayings, gifts, ideas, wallpaper, images, saying, greetings and love bytes

Mother's Day is celebrated to honor all mothers and express gratitude for the hardships they bear in bringing up a child. Most countries including US, Australia, Canada and India celebrate Mothers Day on the second Sunday of May. Mothers Day came into being due to the efforts made by Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis. The Resolution for having a dedicated Mother's Day was signed by US President Woodrow Wilson on May 8, 1914. Since then people across the world have been celebrating Mothers Day with joy and devotion.
Messages:
Thank you mom for everything that you have
done and keeping doing for me. Thank you
God for having you as part of my life, you have
taught me many good things, today what i have become it's because of you.
Your loving nature and your delicate words,
will always flow through me like a gentle
flower. Make sure this day is your day,
and rule with pure enjoyment and pure love!
I am so grateful and blessed for having
special mother like you. I appreciate you a lot. Take
care always and God bless. Wish you a
good health and pleasant Happy Mother's Day!!!
Mere Happiness Is Not the Song I'm Singing
Nicholas Gordon
Mere happiness is not the song I'm singing:
Of mothers' joy a jagged piece is pain.
To love is to be amply burdened, bringing
Hearts with gifts to an uncharted plain.
Even so, one longs to be a mother,
Remembering a richness unreserved
'Ere one could barely recognize another,
Sustained by love unsought and undeserved.
Deeper than oneself is one's communion,
A revelation reached alone by union
Yet yearned for, though through years of love well served.
Mom's smiles can brighten any moment,
Mom's hugs put joy in all our days,
Mom's love will stay with us forever
and touch our lives in precious ways...
The values you've taught,
the care you've given,
and the wonderful love you've shown,
have enriched my life
in more ways than I can count.
I Love you Mom!
We're daughters and mothers
Not so long ago.
We give and take
And take and give
Along time's endless row.
Love is passed
And love received
To be passed on again:
A precious heirloom
Twice, twice blessed,
A spiritual cardigan.
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/
I'll put it on
And treasure it,
The me I have received,
And when the roles
Reverse again,
I'll have what I most need.
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/
So may our love
Go on and on,
A hundred thousand years;
Mothers and daughters,
Daughters and mothers,
Through joys and other tears.
A Mother's Love
by DisturbedMind
A mother's love
Is always true
It's all you need
To get you through
A mother's love
Can seem like hate
She's only tough
To keep you safe
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/
A mother's love
Is always there
In simple ways
She'll show she cares
A mother's love
Can never compare
With anyone else's
Anywhere
A mother's love
Is here to stay
I love you, mom
Happy Mother's Day!

Funny Poem
Mom you are a shining star though the world doesn't know your name.
You have no fancy title like Baroness or Dame.
Mom you really are a star, my mother mentor and friend.
A Nobel Prize for motherhood is what I'd recommend.
And if I won the lottery I'd share my win with you
I'd take you Mom on a spending spree each day the whole year through!
You may not be famous, as your face is known to few.
But Mom I think you are wonderful and I'm so proud of you!
Happiness Can Also Be a Haunting
By Nicholas Gordon
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/
Happiness can also be a haunting,
A text one can recite but cannot read.
Peace need not erase the need for need,
Pressed to a perfection one finds daunting.
Yet often one can win with little warning,
Mothering the plant without the seed,
Of help in breeding though of different breed,
Taking pleasure in another's dawning.
How one feels depends on how one chooses,
Embracing always less that what one wills,
Redeeming even tragedy with passion
'Mid the sinking tapestries of night.
So may you find the courage that refuses
Dominion to the clarity that kills,
Awakening the mother that might fashion
Yearning strong enough to see the light.
ODE TO MOTHERS
Funny by Kristin F. McKendall
Mothers cannot do it all
But surely do they try.
Mothers hear the angel's call,
To comfort all who cry.
Mothers for themselves may fall,
For others they will fly.
Mother's bear the weight of all,
For their children, they would die.
http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/
A Mother's gift extends beyond
All bounds of time and space.
Her lovingness and nurturing
Make Earth a peaceful place.
Wonderful Mother
God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He molded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.
Quotes:
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.
Mothers Day Saying:
It kills you to see them grow up. But I guess it would kill you quicker if they didn't. - Barbara Kingsolver, Animal Dreams Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs... since the payment is pure love. - saying by Mildred B. Vermont http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/ Life is nothing but a series of crosses for us mothers. - Colette Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother. - Oprah Winfrey sayings Mama was my greatest teacher, a teacher of compassion, love and fearlessness. If love is sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of love. - Stevie Wonder Mama exhorted her children at every opportunity to 'jump at de sun.' We might not land on the sun, but at least we would get off the ground. - Cute saying by Zora Neale Hurston A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. - Famous Tenneva Jordan This heart, my own dear mother, bends, with love's true instinct, back to thee! - Thomas Moore God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers. The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness. - Honore de Balzac sayings The real religion of the world comes from women much more than from men - from mothers most of all, who carry the key of our souls in their bosoms. - Oliver Wendell Holmes http://hallosushant.blogspot.com/ A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. - Inspirational sayings by Washington Irving

Enzymes – Essential Nutrients For Good Health

Enzymes are proteins that catalyze a chemical reaction. Each enzyme has unique chemical structure that it can speed up the reaction of certain substrates. Enzymes are involved in all body functions such as digestion, respiration, transportation and detoxification. Deficiency and malfunction of some critical enzymes can lead to serious illnesses or death.
Two types of enzymes, digestive enzymes and antioxidant enzymes are particularly important to our health.
Function:
Digestive enzymes  : break down the food, enabling the absorption of nutrients which are required to sustain life.
Antioxidant enzymes protect our body from the attack of free radicals. The latter is responsible for many degenerative diseases such as aging, cancer, heart
diseases, etc.
Digestive enzymes can be further divided into 3 categories:
amylase:
Amylases are found in saliva, pancreatic and intestinal secretions. Their function is to break down sugars (carbohydrates) . Different types of amylase break down different types of sugars. For examples, lactase breaks down lactose, sucrase breaks down sucrose.
Protease
Proteases are found in the stomach acid and the pancreatic and intestinal secretions; their function is to break down  roteins into amino acids.
Lipase
Lipases, found in pancreatic and intestinal secretions, are involved in fat digestion.
The most important antioxidant enzymes in our body are superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase.
SOD is responsible for the breakdown of superoxide into hydrogen peroxide
whereas
catalase breaks down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen.
Compared to vitamin C and E, SOD, catalase and other antioxidant enzymes are more powerful free radical scavengers and they will not turn into free radicals themselves in their action.
Both digestive enzymes and antioxidant enzymes are synthesized naturally in our body and are available in a variety of foods, such as fruits, vegetables, sprouts and fat containing foods. However, since enzymes are very sensitive to heat, most enzymes are destroyed in cooking. In addition, several studies have shown that our body's ability to produce enzymes decreases as we age. Therefore, for those who are elderly or who are eating mostly cooked food, the consumption of enzyme supplements can either help you assimilate more nutrients from the foods or protect you from free radical damage.
If you want to purchase enzyme supplements, remember to read the label carefully:
  1. First of all, look at the source of the enzymes, are they plant-based, animal-based or extracted from microbes? For vegetarians, they should seek out enzymes extracted from plant or microbial source packed in vegetarian capsules.
  2. Secondly, is the enzyme supplement composed of single enzyme or a mixture of enzymes? Single enzyme supplement such as bromelain is often used for other purposes  (anti-inflammatory) .
  3. For digestive aid, it is better to consume a mixture of enzymes including amylase, protease, and lipase which work together to break down starch, protein and fat. Similarly, a mixture of antioxidant enzymes (SOD and catalase) work better than single enzyme alone.
  4. And lastly, compare the potency (and not the weight) of different enzyme products. The more active the enzyme, the more food it can digest and the higher the unit of potency.
Happy Living with good health.

Eggs help reduce High BP

Here's another reason for egg lovers to savour their favourite food - it helps lower high blood pressure.
  • Canadian researchers have found that egg proteins can help reduce BP in hypertensive patients.
  • Earlier studies have suggested that eggs provide high-quality protein for growth, muscle strength and energy and promote weight.
  • Its key nutrients also help reduce the risk of neural tube birth defects and promote eye health.
  •  In the new study led by Jianping Wu and Kaustav Majumder have found several different peptides in boiled and fried eggs that act as potent ACE inhibitors.
  •  And fried eggs have the highest ACE inhibitory activity.
  •  The scientists showed that enzymes in the stomach and small intestine produce these peptides from eggs.
  •  Egg consumption has significantly reduced over the years amid concerns about cholesterol - risk factor for heart disease.
  • However, recent studies do suggest that healthy people can eat eggs without increasing their heart disease risk.
  • Researchers have shown that eggs have insignificant impact on cholesterol levels.
  •  The new study has also shown that eggs help reduce hypertension- another risk factor for heart disease.
The findings appear in Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. (ANI)
