Sourav Ganguly :Asian Cricketer of the Year 2008

Sourav Ganguly has been named the Castrol Asian Cricketer of the Year at the awards handed out in Karachi. Ganguly, who made his way back to the Indian side in December 2006, also won the best overall batsman prize for his outstanding performances in 2007. He was the highest Asian run-getter in Tests in 2007, with 1106 runs, including a career-best 239 not out against Pakistan, besides scoring 1240 runs in ODIs.

Indians and Sri Lankans dominated the inaugural edition of the awards. Muttiah Muralitharan, the joint leading wicket-taker in 2007 with 49 scalps, was honoured with the best overall and best Test bowler. His team-mate Kumar Sangakkara, who reached the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings last year, was awarded the best Test batsman while Farveez Maharoof was the best ODI bowler.

Sachin Tendulkar's phenomenal 1425 runs in ODIs last year fetched him the award for best ODI batsman while Gautam Gambhir, the second highest run-scorer in the World Twenty20, bagged the Twenty20 award. Yuvraj Singh was presented a special award for his six sixes in an over off Stuart Broad in the World Twenty20 in South Africa.

Pakistan's winners included the leading wicket-taker in the World Twenty20, Umar Gul (best Twenty20 bowler), and surprisingly, Kamran Akmal (best fielder/wicketkeeper). Akmal's form has slipped since 2006 and he was dropped from the squad for the Asia Cup after his poor showings.

Among other awards announced, Shoaib Malik, the Pakistan captain, was named the Pakistan Cricketer of the Year, while Ahmed Shehzad, who performed creditably with both bat and ball in the Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia, won the prize for the best junior. Pakistan legend Hanif Mohammad was also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The awards are based on the Castrol Performance Index - a comprehensive points system which takes into consideration batting, bowling and fielding performances of each player against all teams in all international matches, in all three formats - Tests, ODIs and Tweny20s, during a calendar year.

Experience Certainty ...TCS

Experience Certainty ...TCS
Finally I'm in TCS, a long quest for success. Though my major is electronics engineering, but getting placed in tcs is also a possession worth prized. I've just passed my 3rd year and got a job in TCS-Tata Consultancy Services: Asia biggest IT company with an annual turnover of $5.71 billions, with 111,047 employees and operating in 50 countries all over the world, alliances with companies like Microsoft, Adobe, HP and Motorola.
The whole placement procedure took only 2 days in our college "Bharati Vidyapeeth University College of Engineering, PUNE, India" on 25th and 26th june. It consisits of 3 rounds which u have to clear to get into TCS. These rounds are as follows. I've shared my views on how to crack each round with full confidence and also how to get into TCS. 1] Apptitude Test_ This is the easiest round, It takes place on computer online. It consists of Three divisions/sections : a) Verbal: It mainly consists of English questions (synonyms & antonyms) and two paragraphs lengthy one. This section is a bit tough as u have to go through a long list of english words, mainly the HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS from GRE Barrons, any edition. Also u need to prepare for this for a long time so that u don't get confused with words. Antonyms are more tougher than synonyms. b) Quantitative Aptitude:This section consists of maths questions which are very easy but u have to go through them very quickly, so u need to have a good practice of those questions. For a better understanding of these questions just go through any aptitude book like, R.S. Aggarwal's Quantitative aptitude and Verbal & Non-verbal Reasoning books. But still u can get through these questions very easily if u try the previous questions from Freshersworld.com. The questions are mostly repetitive but sometimes the numbers/data get changed. c) Analytical Reasoning:This section is really tough but u can score good if u have a good analytical skills, but the questions asked are really tricky so u must have a good practice of the questions. The questions based on family relationship are really tricky. But still there is a 2nd way out. The questions are directly from GRE BARRONS 12h edition Model-Test paper 1 to5. So just go through those model test papers and u can easily figure out all the questions of this section, which is otherwise relly tough to make. The result is just out as ur time allotted of one and a half hour ends. Either u'll see "Congratulations! U've cleared the TCS Aptitude test" which i saw after my test, Thanks God, or u'll see "Thanks for taking the TEST". 2] Technical Interview_ This is really tough as it depends upon ur luck weather u got a good and easy panel of interviewer or a strict one. Whatever it may be, but u've to know all the basics of ur branch and good communication skills. If u know Computer languages then its quite good, but u must know them very well not just an overview. Never lie to ur panel also just be little witty with ur answers and also u must have a good and valuable reason for all ur points either written in ur resume or which u r speaking. The questions asked by me in Technical round are as follows: Q] How are u feeling? A] Stressed but Confident. Q] Describe urself. A] I'm sushant Verma, my major is Electronics engineering and i'm from Samastipur,BIHAR. I can describe myself as Honest, afable and aplomb. I believe in self realization, rational thinking, team work and taking the bull by the horns. My hobbies are blogging, soving rubiks cube and reading novels and playing Computer games like age of empires. I want to join TCS as it is the asia's largest IT company and i want to start my professional life with TCS, moreover Experience Certainty is everything an employe need. Other questions were from my branch electronics and some reasoning questions. 3] HR & MR interview_ This is really a good round were in u can give all the dimensions to ur thoughts, all the questions will be new and unexpected. But u can go through this round if u have a good reasoning and thinking ability. Finally the result were out and i was among the other 122 selected out of 340 students. Thanks to God and my Parents., for a better support and unending support. The package we get is 3.15lakhs per annum. TCS rocks.

Karan Johar is now a blogger!!!

Like his colleagues Amtiabh Bachchan [Blog]and Aamir Khan[blog], ace filmmaker Karan Johar has also started blogging, but says he is doing it to put his thoughts into writing rather than vocalising them all the time.

'I've always been a closet writer. I've been offered newspaper columns that I almost did, but never got down to.'

'I feel a blog would be a good way to express my thoughts on cinema. Things that don't routinely get space in the traditional media outlets these days,' added the director who is all set to direct his next 'My Name is Khan' with Shah Rukh Khan.

Karan promises to be regular.

'But not compulsive. I don't see myself blogging from my sets when I start shooting 'Khan...' or when I'm abroad for my various events.'

Once a week on the blog is all you'll get of Karan.

'I've a staff to take care of the blog. And I certainly won't be peering anxiously into it every day. And the blog isn't to discuss my daily routine or my sexuality, although both may crop up when the need arises. But I'm not turning blogger to blabber about my life. God knows, I do enough of that on a daily basis.'

So is it lucrative?

'You mean am I getting paid to write the blog? Who's going to pay me to hear me talk on the net when there's so much of the Karan Johar wisdom being spewed in every possible place? No, I'm doing the blog for free.'

Woh TeeKha Samosaa

Woh TeeKha Samosaa

Have your heard The famous song "woh kaagaj ki kasti, woh baaris ka paani..." by Jagjit singh. Here is the refined version of it ..."woh teekha samoosa ..."
just read it, its really interesting.

Yeh Degree bhi lelo, Yeh Naukri bhi lelo,
Bhale mujhse lelo woh US ka Visa,
Magar mujhko lauta do college ki canteen,
Woh TeeKha Samosaa, Woh thanda saaa paani,

Woh College ki sabse - purani nishaanee,
Woh chai vaalaa jisko - saare kehte the... jaani,
Woh jaani ke hathon - ki 'cutting' chai meethi,
Woh chup-kese journal - mein jo bheji thi chitthi,
Woh padhte hi chitthi - tha uska bhadakna,
Woh chehre ki laali, woh aankhon kaa gussaa..
Woh teekha samosa, woh thanda saaa paani………..

Kadi dhoop mein - apni room se nikalnaa,
Woh project ki Khatir - tha dar dar bhataknaa ,
Woh lecture mein doston - ki proxy lagaanaa,
Woh sir ko chidana, aeroplane udaanaa,
Woh submission ki raton - ko jagna jagaanaa,
Woh classrooms ke kisse, woh internals ki kahani....
Woh teekha samosa, woh thanda saaa paani……….

Woh dena Bimaari - ka har time bahana,
Woh doosron ka assignment - ko apnaa banana,
Woh seminar ke din - pairon ka chat-patanaa,
Woh workshop mein din bhar - pasinaa bahanaa,
Woh slogans banana - aur Gym me rakhadna,
Phir Exam ke din ko – tha bechain hona,
Woh teekha samosa, woh thanda saaa paani……..

College ki thi - woh lambi si raatein,
Woh doston se tapre pe - pyaari si Baatein;
Woh gathering ke din ka – jo ladnaa Jhagadnaa;
Woh kudiyon ka yuhin - hamesha akadnaa;
Bhulaaye nahin bhool sakta hai koi -------
Woh college, woh baatein, woh guzara jamana…

Woh teekha samosa, Woh thanda saaa paani…….
Woh teekha samosa, Woh thanda saaa paani……

Amarnath Yatra begins: Jai Shiv Shankar

Amid chanting of religious hymns and tolling of bells, the annual Amarnath Yatra began today with the first batch of 2,837 pilgrims starting their journey from here to the cave shrine in south Kashmir, protected by a three-tier security ring.
The convoy of the pilgrims, escorted by vehicles carrying Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, was flagged off by Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Higher Education G S Charak at around 0500 hours.

The yatris -- 1,846 men, 778 women, 174 children and 67 sadhus -- left in 59 buses and 29 light carriers from the newly-constructed Amarnath Yatri Bhawan at Bagwati Nagar area of the city.

The first batch would have 'darshan' at the cave shrine tomorrow.

"With the blessing of the Lord Shiva, I have flagged off the first batch of pilgrims. Elaborate security measures have been taken and arrangements for board and lodging have been made by the government," Charak told PTI.

"The three-tier security setup has been activated in and around cave shrine, base camps in Jammu, Pahalgam and Baltal and eating and halting points along the pilgrimage route from Lakhanpur (Kathua) to Amarnath," security officials said.

The security system consists of area domination and setting up of mountain posts by contingents of the army and the CRPF besides mobile patrolling by armed police.

The CRPF has deployed 50 companies comprising 6,250 men and officers while the army has set up 97 area domination posts in and around the cave shrine in Lidder valley of south Kashmir Himalayas, besides Pahalgam and along the route in Anantnag, Ramban and Udhampur districts.

ab baat aati hai kaise kiya jaye ye kaam. kuch mere vichar not yet very concrete
yahan 2 fold work hai

1. we should pass on information regarding scholarship to the needy students
2. next we should prepare some study material so that government school student can perform well in such exam.

Pahle to pahla kaam karne ke liye hame bahut saare log ka saath chahiye, kam se kam ham sab log apne gaon ke aas-paas ke school mein iski soochna to bhej hin skate hain. Is muhim mein hame apne parivarwalon aurmitra mandali jo abhi Bihar mein hain unko shamil karna hoga. Iska kharch bahut jyada nahin hoga. Hmalog har district mein ek contact person agar bana lein aur unke pas NTSE kaa form aur sample paper yahan se bhej dein. Fir wahan we jarurat ke mutabik photocopy karwa ke distribute karein. "Sorry, no blogging for me," says Hrithik.

"Sorry, no blogging for me," says Hrithik.

Bollywood's hunk Hrithik Roshan has kept himself from being a blogger, like bollywood famous celebrities Amitabh Bachchan[blog],

Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan[blog] , though it seems better also as blog is becoming a virtual war zone for these top honchos and they left no stone upturned to make others bow on there feet.

In his words:
"I am not interested in blogging and don't want to comment or join the war of blogs. Sorry, no blogging for me," says Hrithik.

"I am enjoying my fatherhood these days and very soon will be busy with my next project 'Kites' to be shot outdoor extensively. I am not giving any serious thought to blogging given my busy schedule. As for the future, I can't say,"

This should be an idle answer for keeping him away from muddy arena.
well future in unpredictable!!! lets see...

His near future plans:
Hrithik, for the very first time in his career plays a "raunchy" role in his dad's next "Kites" .

"Shooting will start from the next month and it's too early to talk about it at this stage," says the actor, who made his film debut with the blockbuster 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai' (2000).

"This movie will take a year or so to get completed and I will have more to talk about it after its completion," he says.

The movie, starring US-based Spanish model Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut in the lead is about the romantic engagements between an Indian boy and a Latino girl who do not speak each other's language, in which Hrithik plays a man who keeps oscillating between love and lust.

The movie to be shot mostly in New Mexico, Las Vegas and Los Angeles will be directed by Anurag Basu with music by Rajesh Roshan.

Lets have a look at what the future tells , but till now for Hrithik "NO BLOGGING"

India seeks Israeli technology to boost litchi output

India seeks Israeli technology to boost litchi output

India is eyeing Israeli technology to increase the life span of the litchi fruit after searing heat destroyed much of the crops in Bihar, which accounts for 70 percent of domestic production.

"Israel has got the technology that will help litchi growers as well as those engaged in its marketing to earn lucrative prices," K.K. Kumar, director of the National Research Centre for Litchi at Muzaffarpur, told IANS.

Israel, Kumar said over telephone, had an innovative technology to keep perishable fruits like litchi fresh for at least 28 days. "Access to this technology will manifold increase earnings."

According to him, the Indian agriculture ministry plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with Israel.

Experts say that the agro-climatic condition of Bihar is ideal for litchi, a huge popular fruit in summer.

The number of farmers in the state growing litchis has increased in the last decade, especially in Muzaffarpur district, 70 km away, and neighbouring areas along the river Gandak.

Kumar said that lichi production this year had been badly hit by high temperatures, followed immediately by rains. Farmers and exporters have all been hit.

"Inclement weather conditions and a fall in the water table have affected litchi cultivation, " he said. "Many farmers went for pre-mature harvesting to lessen the losses."

Exporters too were hit hard. Last year, a record 100 tonnes of litchi was exported. This year, this would not come to even half the quantity.

The quality of litchi fruit has also suffered. Many have turned sour. The export quality litchis are to be delicious and should have the diameter of six cm.
Bihar's lone exporter of litchi, Raj Kumar Kedia, said that 40 percent of the fruit had been destroyed by the excessive heat in April, followed by the rains.

"The fruit has been damaged and its quality is not fit for export," he said.

Bhola Nath Jha, a litchi farmer, said that bad weather had derailed litchi cultivation.

All this has led those in the litchi industry to look at Israeli technology. Countries that import Indian litchi include the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Canada, Russia and Yemen.
