Godrej Consumer Products: (GCPL) held an analyst meet to discuss the fourth quarter and year ended March 2010 result. Mr. Adi Godrej, Chairman and Mr. Dalip Sehgal, Managing Director of the company addressed the meet. Following are the key highlights


Highlights of the meet

The net sales for the quarter on consolidated basis have increased by 47% to Rs 509.19 crore. The consolidated result also includes numbers of Godrej Sara Lee (GSL), which stood at Rs 146.98 crore and Godrej Hygiene. The net profit of the company increased by 55% to Rs 91.76 crore due to rise in top line on back of consolidation of numbers from Godrej Sara Lee.

International operations particularly Africa registered strong growth during the quarter. The sales of Keyline Brands stood at Rs 45.5 crore (grew by 4%), Rapidol stood at Rs 17.6 crore (up by 60%), Godrej Global Mideast stood at Rs 4.53 crore and Kinky Groups stood at Rs 13.9 crore (up by 30%).

The net sales for FY10 on consolidated basis grew by 46% to Rs 2043.70 crore. The rise in margin has resulted in increased in the profit after tax by 96% to Rs 339.59 crore.

International business contributed 19% of total turnover. The sales of Keyline Brands stood at Rs 218.6 crore (grew by 9%). Cuticura registered 83% growth in FY10. Rapidol stood at Rs 69.4 crore (up by 42%), Godrej Global Mideast stood at Rs 17.7 crore and Kinky Groups stood at Rs 72.3 crore (up by 41%). GCPL's share in Godrej Sara Lee's sales for the year (June to March) under review stood at Rs 408.9 crore.

Kinky's good growth came on back of expansion in distribution and selling of high margin products through own stores & low margin products through retails.

Cinthol and Godrej No 1 grew 25% in FY10.

Export increased by 63% to Rs 31.6 crore.

85% of Godrej Sara Lee sales come from insecticides.

Megasari acquisition in April will help GCPL to leverage its strength in insecticides and Aircare Market.

Megasari number will be consolidated with GCPL on the 10th or 11th month of FY11. It grew by 25% on top line and 35% at bottom line in FY10. The management expects Rs 50 crore additions to GCPL's bottom line for FY11.

The market share in soap was 10.3% in FY10 with leading position in North and second at all India level.

There was quarter on quarter rise in vegetable oil prices in FY10.

Cinthol skin protection talc launched in South India where it is strong player with its soap brand Cinthol Deodorant & Complexion soap. This soap was launch in Rs 6 and Rs 15 SKU beside its regular one of Rs 23 SKU.

Hair Colours market share stood at 33.9% in FY10.

In toiletries, during the year the Cinthol brand portfolio has been extended with the launch of two new deo sprays ‘Rainstorm' and ‘Unleash'. Godrej Protekt â€" Hand Sanitizers, Hand wash and Wipes was launched during the year.

Out of total revenue growth for FY10, 45% growth came from rural region.
